Steven Jensen Named New Jordan Public Schools Community Education and Recreation Director

Jordan Public Schools (JPS) is pleased to announce Mr. Steven Jensen as the new District Community Education and Recreation Director.

Steven has been serving as Community Education Activities Coordinator at Burnsville Eagan Savage Schools and will join Jordan Public Schools beginning Monday, October 8, 2018. Mr. Jensen has extensive experience with the development and administration of programming in community education.

Steven was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he was a three sport athlete in Soccer, Hockey and Baseball. He went on to play hockey all 4 years and receive his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management from Gustavus Adolphus College.  Steven also has a graduate certificate in Educational Leadership with a Community Education License from Minnesota State University in Mankato.

Steven is excited to bring his knowledge and ideas to the position of Jordan Community Education and Recreation Director. As a leader in the community, he hopes to inspire and engage all people of Jordan.

Steven began his career as an after school programmer in New Orleans, Louisiana where he found his passion for creating opportunities for all people. Since moving to Minnesota 7 years ago, he has dedicated his professional career providing services and opportunities for all. Outside of school, Steven spends his time with his wife and two young boys ages 2 and 4. He is very excited to build on the current relationships and experience all that Jordan has to offer.

Superintendent Matt Helgerson remarked with excitement, “I’m very pleased to have Steven on board as our new director. His experiences, energy and enthusiasm toward community education and recreation programming is contagious. I’m excited about the future of the department.”
