Jordan Public Schools name 2018-2019 Teachers of the Year

Jordan Public Schools (JPS) is pleased to announce the 2018-2019 Teachers of the Year as chosen by their professional peers.

The Jordan Elementary School Teacher of the Year is Sarah Houdek. Mrs. Houdek is a 1st grade teacher and has been with ISD717 since 2006. Melissa Barnett, Jordan Elementary School Principal shared, “Sarah is a phenomenal 1st grade teacher, who strives each day to meet the unique academic and social-emotional needs of her students. She is a quiet and humble leader.  Her passion and excitement for learning is evident in her classroom, as well as when she's working with staff in supporting their professional growth. Sarah's commitment to teaching and learning is unwavering, and we are so fortunate to have her a part of our JES staff!”

The Jordan Middle School Teacher of the Year is Heather Davis. Ms. Davis is a 6th grade math teacher as well as a middle school track and field coach. She has been with ISD717 since 2011. Ben Bakeberg, Jordan Middle School Principal shared, “Ms. Davis is an outstanding teacher and a wonderful person. She has a deep knowledge of content and teaching strategies but it is her passion for serving her students that sets her apart. She is often found sitting on the floor helping a student struggle through a math problem or middle school relationship issue. She strives to connect with student inside and outside the classroom as a teacher and coach. Jordan Middle School is blessed to have her part of the JMS team!”

The Jordan High School Teacher of the Year is Bryan Aldrich. Mr. Aldrich teaches chemistry, AP chemistry, and physics. He has been with ISD717 since 2003. “Mr. Aldrich is an incredible teacher, “ said Jordan High School Principal Jeff Vizenor. “He has a way of making lessons come alive for students. He is kind, caring, and will go the extra mile to help a student see success in the sciences. Mr. Aldrich is not only a leader in our science department, but an instructional leader for all of Jordan High School.”

Our Jordan Public Schools 2018-2019 Teachers of the Year will be honored at the end of the year staff breakfast on June 6.
