Immediate Release - 07/10/23
Jordan High School (JHS) is thrilled to announce Assistant Track and Field Coach Hollie Penney named section 2AA Assistant Coach of the Year.
“It was an honor to nominate Coach Penney for this award. She has been a vital part of our Track and Cross Country programs over the time period she has coached. Individually she has coached virtually every middle and long distance school record performance in Jordan,” said Coach Ben Nylander, Boy’s Track & Field Head Coach and Cross Country Coach at Jordan Public Schools.
During her time coaching at Jordan, Penney coached 4 state qualifying Boys 4x800m relays. Despite completely different members over this time period they placed 2nd at state twice with times of 8:03.20 and 8:04.01 and were state champions in 2022 with a time of 7:52.79. This team was also the Hamline Elite Meet Champions.
She has also coached two different state qualifying 4x400m Relay teams. In 2019 her 4x4 placed 6th with a 3:26.22 and in 2022 they were state champions with a 3:22.20. She also coached the girls 4x400m Relay to a school record in 2022.
Under her tutelage, Kendra Krueger placed 3rd at state cross country, 1st in the 800 and the 1600 at state track as she has set school records of 18:28, 2:13 and 4:53 in these events. She also set Jordan's school record in the 400m at 58. Kaleb Sharp was the 2022 state champion in the 800 and has set school records in the 800, 1600, and 3200 with times of 1:53, 4:17, and 9:37.
Assistant Coach Penney will be stepping aside this year after 10 years of coaching with Jordan’s Track & Field and Cross Country programs to spend more time with her four children and to focus on her chiropractic clinic.
