Course Description

  • College Writing is a high-level writing class designed for high-achieving Language Arts students who are planning to attend a 4-year college. This course focuses on writing situations in academic settings and emphasizes sentence structure and grammar rules as a means to clear and effective writing. Organization, clarity, sentence structure, editing, and style are major components of this class. Writing assignments start with detailed paragraphs, progress through multiple essays, and culminate in a research project. Class time is also spent preparing for the ACT exam as well as developing skills for effective responses to various nonfiction reading selections.
