  • ASVAB test for Juniors

Posted by Robin Whiteside on 10/15/2020 4:00:00 PM

Good afternoon Parents/Guardians of the Class of 2022!

Your student will be taking the ASVAB test on October 21st, Wednesday, of next week. The purpose of this exam is to continue to prepare students for post secondary success, as well as provide them with career interest insight.

All juniors will take this exam on the 21st. We encourage those juniors attending the virtual academy to also come in and take the test. After receiving results, the ASVAB interpreters will be coming to speak with the 11th graders about their results. The ASVAB can also provide insight on different subject areas and on how students may do on the ACT in the spring. These test results are only shared with the students and the school, the results are not shared with recruiters.

Please let us know if you have questions.

  • Jordan Virtual Academy Expectations

Posted by JHS Counseling Staff on 9/15/2020

Thank you for your support of the Jordan Virtual Academy.   We want to remind our families in the JVA of the expectations for this new learning format.  It is very different from distance learning in the spring.  Students are expected to engage through Zoom or Google Meets at least two times a week for each scheduled class.  Assignment deadlines need to be met by students.  Students are encouraged to email their JVA teachers with questions.   If you are having difficulty with technology, please contact your counselor and teacher immediately.

If your student has an individual phone number or cell phone please add that number to infinite campus. This will only be used by teachers and school staff to contact your student regarding school and attendance.  You will be expected to be on your virtual calls or Zoom meetings at the scheduled time or you will be marked absent.

When you look at your schedule, you may see some classes “ double booked”. That is okay because most of those classes are on opposite days for meeting times. Each class will be following a schedule that was created just for our Virtual Academy students.  Here is the JVA Master Schedule. We recommend you write out your schedule for each day, for the week. Class names that start with JVA are online and any class that does not have a JVA are regular in person classes (for the few of you that are coming in for a class or two). Please make sure you take into account travel time when you map out your schedule. You do not have to zoom for your SNAP(advisory) period, but will periodically have assignments through your Career Readiness classroom.

Please log on to Infinite Campus to review your schedule. Contact your counselor with any schedule questions or conflicts.

For more information on the Jordan Virtual Academy, click this Website link.

Please review the JVA expectations here. English/Spanish

You can review the Communication that was sent on August 20th for even more information on Jordan Virtual Academy.
