Summit Academy Teacher and Director
Being the daughter of two teachers, I have valued education as far back as my memory reaches. Jordan is where my educational journey began in a kindergarten classroom when I was still a Jordan student, and I am thankful to continue this journey in such a great community. I cherish my time growing up and attending school in Jordan, and I enjoy sharing my love of this community with my own students.

I wanted to be a part of a noble profession that can not only change the world but make an individual impact on the students lives we teach. Being able to teach students important life skills necessary for success in their career and family life is a very rewarding experience.

As a student myself, I enjoyed the hands on learning that allowed me to apply the skills acquired in core classes. This made learning real for me and inspired me to make teaching a career, allowing me to share the things that I enjoy with students.

My journey into education has been rather non-traditional. Initially planning on a career in medicine, I served two years as a health educator in Benin, West Africa, where I experienced the joy of educating others about human health and disease. This opportunity, along with many years as both a student and a teacher of the life sciences, brings me to Jordan Public Schools to share my passion with students who will be discerning college and career pathways through their science coursework.

I enjoy being around young people. It is a great privilege to have the opportunity to impact their lives in a meaningful way, and I couldn't imagine working in any other profession. I love how history shows us who we are and how it reveals the path to our present-day society, and I also love how life lessons can be taught on the basketball court as an extension of the classroom. I am truly fortunate to be a teacher and coach in the Jordan School District!
