Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: When does the PTO meet?
A: The second Tuesday of every month at 6:00pm in the JES Media Center from September to April. The first meeting of the school year will take place on September 13, 2022. The purpose of the first meeting is to introduce incoming members and review the calendar of events. The last meeting of the year should be used to set the calendar of activities for the next year, assign the committee chairs, and decide how to use the PTO fundraising dollars for the next school year. This should also include putting together a calendar that outlines the upcoming school years JES PTO sponsored events. The calendar is provided to the district, so the PTO events are included in the district calendar. The PTO typically does not meet in the summer months. However, special sessions may be held to plan and coordinate the beginning of the school year activities.

Q: Who can participate in the PTO?
A: Every parent, guardian, adult family member, teacher, or staff member who is interested in helping our school grow and prosper is welcome and encouraged to participate as much as they can.

Q: Is it necessary to attend PTO meetings?
A: While attendance and participation is not required at any PTO monthly meetings, we believe that we become more informed advocates by attending meetings which give parents insight into the everyday happenings at our children’s school as well as programs, resources and needs. We need your voice to help make important decisions that ultimately impact the improvement of our children’s school.

Q: What topics are discussed at a PTO Meeting?
A: Meetings cover reports on upcoming events and activities, as well as teacher requests for funds that enhance our children’s experience.

    Q: How are officers selected?
A: PTO Officers positions are 2 year terms. PTO Officers are voted in during the April general PTO meeting. All interested parties may attend the meeting.
