Course Description
-
Choir 8 prepares students for successful singing at the high school level.
Singers will begin to move beyond the basics of music literacy to balance and blend in a group
setting. Singers will continue to learn about the mechanics of the singing voice, including the male
changing voice. Students will prepare literature for three- and four-part voices. Students will
continue to work on cooperation, dedication, and self-discipline with this performing group. There
are four evening performances per year.

Artistic Foundations
6.1.1 Demonstrates knowledge of the foundation of the arts area.
● Analyze the elements of music including melody, rhythm, harmony, dynamics, tone
color, texture, form and their related concepts.
6.1.2 Demonstrates knowledge and use of the technical skills of the art form, integrating
technology when applicable.
● Read and notate music using standard notation such as dotted rhythms, clefs, mixed
meters and multipart scores, with or without the use of notation software.
● Sing alone and in a group (two- and three-part harmony) or play an instrument alone
and in a group using musical expression such as phrasing, dynamic contrast,
