Special Education Teacher
I chose to become a teacher for many reasons. Ultimately, I enjoy being a support for kids that need that extra guidance and care. It is incredible watching a student make strides toward reaching their full potential, especially when they surpass their own expectations. It's very fullfilling teaching in Jordan because of the dynamic families that I get to know by working together as a team.

Welcome to Jordan Middle School. As a special education teacher, I am overjoyed to work with amazing and supportive teachers, support staff and administration at JMS! I grew up in Jordan, and currently live in Belle Plaine with my husband. My two children attended Jordan schools and thrived due to the care, concern, and challenge that Jordan staff offered them. My son is enlisted in the Air Force in Okinawa as a Cable Dawg (Cable and Antenna Systems) while my daughter teaches ECFE in Shakopee, Minnesota.

The majority of my day is devoted to Language strategies. My educational training includes Orton Gillingham, SIMs (Kansas Writing Strategies), Six Traits, and LETRS. The majority of my day is providing 1:1 and small group instruction for reading and writing. Please feel free to call me or text me if I can be of any assistance.

Life Skills
Since my early years as a child, I knew that being a teacher was my calling, as well as coming back to my hometown to teach. I I have always had a love and passion to help those with special needs, since growing up and immersing myself in this community of exceptional people. I was a volunteer for Special Olympics as well as at LEEP (Leisure Education for Exceptional People) during my college years in Mankato. I also led the Mankato chapter of Council for Exceptional Children for a year. I couldn't be more excited for the school year, and to get to know all the kids and families!

Special Education has always been an area of passion for me. I started my professional career as a paraprofessional at Jordan Elementary School. Upon earning my teaching degree from Grand Canyon University, I was granted the position as a Special Education teacher at Jordan Middle School, specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorders. I am currently in the process of obtaining my masters degree in Autism Spectrum Disorders from Concordia University. In addition to my roles as a teacher, I also have the privilege of being the Head Varsity Cheerleading Coach, and a bus driver here in Jordan. At home, I have 4 kids and 2 pups. I spend most of my free time camping and hanging out with my family.

I live in Jordan with my husband and 3 children (and 2 dogs). We love to travel in the summer, attend sporting events and stay active. We decided to settle down in Jordan after living in a larger city for several years. Being from a small town up north, Jordan is the perfect place for us to live and work. After obtaining my business degree from the University of Minnesota - Duluth and working in the Mortgage and non profit sectors, I went back to school to get my teaching license from The College of Saint Scholastica where I received my Communication Arts and Literature 5-12 licensure. After teaching middle school for a few years, I decided to go back for my special education licenses in Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) and Emotional and Behavior Disorders (EBD), finding this to be my calling. I have taught a wide range of students with many diverse abilities in middle school and high school.
