2022 Abatement Project

In Summer 2022 the School Board took formal steps to engage in obtaining an Abatement Bond. The bond was tax neutral and could only be used for projects pertaining to safe community access to buildings, including parking lots and the adjacent sidewalk. The process to obtain the bond included passing a resolution, holding a public hearing with public notices in the Jordan Independent, and a public bidding process for the work that would be completed. This lengthy process was separate from the 2023 Referendum that passed in April, and work will begin on Monday, June 5.

This safe community access project includes repairing and seal coating the parking lots at Jordan High School (this includes the student lot, staff lot and activities lot), replacing the front sidewalk at Jordan High School, and expanding the CERC parking lot.

The CERC parking lot will be closed beginning Monday, June 5, and will remain closed for the duration of the project (anticipated project completion is mid-August). The original layout of the CERC parking lot included 37 parking stalls and two accessible parking stalls. At the completion of the project, the CERC parking lot will include 99 parking stalls, five accessible parking stalls, and a drop-off/pick-up lane for after school programming.

During the CERC parking lot closure, parking will be available in the Jordan Middle School parking lot and building access will continue to be available through the CERC front entrance. Additionally, two temporary accessible parking spaces will be available behind the CERC with access to the CERC available from Door 3 during the CERC regular summer hours (Monday-Thursday 5:00am-9:00pm, Friday 5:00am-7:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 8:00am-7:00pm). This door will be accessible with a fob during extended fob access hours. Please see the image below for details.

Additional parking may be available in the Jordan High School parking lot and the Jordan Elementary School parking lot. However, there will be intermittent times that the Jordan High School parking lot and sidewalks will not be accessible due to the work that is being completed on the parking lots and sidewalks. Further communications with those timelines will be shared with all district families closer to the times of inaccessibility at Jordan High School.
