What inspired you to run for the school board?
I had been involved in a few school committees and the PTO. Then, I co-chaired the operating referendum that was run in 2009 and decided I wanted to continue to work towards making a difference for our school district.
When did you begin working for the school board?
Current board committee assignments
Budget/Finance Committee, Calendar Committee, Communications Committee, Curriculum & Technology Integration Committee, Policy Committee, Safe and Supportive Schools/PBIS Committee (alternate), SW Metro / Intermediate District Representative (alternate)
Point of contact / Ad-hoc committee assignments
American Indian Parent Advisory Council, TIES/Region V/SCSC/Metro ECSU
I have been married to my husband James since 1995 and we have two children. My oldest is currently a junior at JHS and my youngest is currently a ninth grader at JHS. Both of our children are very involved in activities - they have both been in Cross Country, Speech and Track and our youngest is involved in theatre and Youth in Government (through the YMCA) as well. Academics are very important in our family, but we also believe a well-rounded student includes being involved in extracurricular activities. Our whole family enjoys reading and having lively discussions - whether it's at the dinner table, in the car, or pretty much anywhere. We can also be found playing cards, hiking, or having fun with our cat, Muppet, and our guinea pig, Saphira.
