Jordan Middle School Choir Singers Break a Guinness World Record
JORDAN, MN (July 1, 2015) – Following two months of anticipation, while their official record breaking attempt underwent review by Guinness, the Jordan Middle School Choir singers have been informed that they succeeded in breaking a Guinness World Record on Thursday, May 7th, 2015 for the “Most People in a Nursery Rhyme Singing Relay”. The 231 singers in Jordan Middle School Choir surpassed the previous record of 180 people in a Nursery Rhyme Singing Relay.
According to Guinness Book of World Records, “A singing relay is defined as a line of people who sing a song in relay, i.e. the first person sings the first word of the song, the person next to him the second, and so on, until the song finishes. The term “nursery rhyme” refers to traditional songs for children especially in Britain and in the United States which originated in the 18th century.”
Elizabeth Egger, Jordan Middle School Choir Director, explains, “We (were) excited to make history with this World Record! This (was) a fantastic opportunity for the Jordan Middle School choir students, to be part of something that allows them to think globally, beyond their experiences here in Minnesota. It will be a memory that they’ll have for the rest of their life.”
