JES "Safety Week" May 4 – 8

Jordan Public Schools receives grant to promote health and safety! Jordan Elementary families and students – Join us for “Safety Week” during the week of May 4th.

Recently, the Jordan School District received a SHIP Grant through Scott County to promote healthy and active kids. It’s important to begin an active lifestyle as early as possible to help students perform at their best. In fact, many studies show that children who are physically active also perform better in the classroom. Before the implementation of these programs next year, we want to introduce some of these active kids initiatives during Jordan Elementary "Safety Week." Next year, look for these exciting, student – health focused initiatives like "The Walking School Bus."

For those that normally ride a bus and are close enough to school, this is a great chance to form a group and walk to school TOGETHER! Parents, you could be the walking “bus drivers” and use our safety tips to help your student.

Friday, May 8:
Kindergarten Safety Day – Led by the Jordan Police Department, Kindergarten students will learn about water safety, bus safety, fire safety, bike safety, and poison safety. Students will be able to see the inside of an ambulance and watch a police dog demonstration.
