|5/14/15 >> MNDOT 169/282 construction to affect bus routes |
Dear Families of Buses 73 and 78 serving the Sioux Vista, Valley Green, Timberline, and Apple Circle Neighborhoods,
As you are all likely aware, MNDOT (Minnesota Department of Transportation) will be working on the Highway 169 and the 282 intersection. We were informed today that closures of this intersection will begin next Tuesday, May 19th. This closure will affect our buses and we wanted to take time to clearly communicate what to expect during the last three days of school this year. Please see the bullet points below for information regarding this issue:
- In discussions and planning we do not believe that any morning pick-up times will be affected. Buses will be required to take a right at 169 and travel south to Delaware Avenue. We have been assured that a State Trooper will be stationed at the highway crossing and is prepared to assist buses as they cross 169.
- In the afternoon at the drop-off time we do expect delays for the second tier runs for buses 73 and 78 due to extra travel time related to construction. At this time our best estimate would be for delays in drop-off time up to 20 minutes. However, if additional buses are available, these times may remain closer to normal.
We have stressed to MNDOT the need to keep our buses safe during these final three days of the school year. MNDOT has responded by committing resources such as the State Patrol.
At this time, the construction will be done prior to the 2015-2016 school year. We will continue to communicate to you as necessary.
Matthew Helgerson, Superintendent
